# Refunds (/docs/account/refunds)

Subscription fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable, unless the law requires a refund. This follows the WriteStack [Terms of Service](https://writestack.io/tos).

## How it works [#how-it-works]

- Cancelling stops future charges. It doesn't refund the period you already paid for, and you keep access until it ends. See [Cancel](/docs/account/cancel).
- Cancel during the [free trial](/docs/account/trial) and you are not charged.
- If an account is suspended or terminated for abuse, fraud or breaking the Terms, refunds may be denied, except where the law requires one.

## Ask about a charge [#ask-about-a-charge]

Email support@writestack.io with:

- the email on your WriteStack account,
- the date and amount of the charge.

You can find both in **Settings → Subscription → Billing & Invoices → Billing History**.
