# Affiliates and coupon codes (/docs/account/affiliates)

The WriteStack ambassador program pays you **30% of every payment** from writers you refer, for as long as they stay subscribed. Joining is free and your referral link works right away.

### Steps [#steps]

1. Go to [writestack.io/affiliates](https://writestack.io/affiliates) and click **Become an ambassador**.
2. Sign up. Your referral link is in your ambassador dashboard.
3. Share the link. The [ambassador resource kit](https://writestack.io/ambassador-guide) has logos, screenshots and a screen recording you can use.

### How referrals are counted [#how-referrals-are-counted]

- The referral is tracked when someone clicks your link and credited when they subscribe, even if they subscribe later.
- Only new customers count. People who already use WriteStack don't.
- You don't need to use WriteStack yourself, though it helps.

### Rules [#rules]

- No bidding on "WriteStack" or any variation of it on Google Ads, Meta or any paid platform. Commissions from branded paid search are void.
- No promoting your link through paid ads of any kind. The [Terms of Service](https://writestack.io/tos) don't allow it.
- No self-referrals. You can't use your own link to buy your own subscription.
- No pages built to rank for "WriteStack discount code" or "WriteStack coupon".
- No unsolicited DMs at scale, no comment spam, no misleading claims about results. Share real numbers only.

Breaking these rules can void commissions or close your account.

## Coupon codes [#coupon-codes]

If you have a coupon code:

- **At checkout:** enter it in the promotion code field on the Stripe checkout page.
- **From a link:** some links apply the code for you. You see **Coupon applied successfully!** on the pricing page.

If the code doesn't work, you see **Invalid coupon code**. Codes can expire or have a limited number of uses. Only one discount applies to a subscription.
